JROTC

The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) programs include a variety of activities and courses, such as: 

 
  • Leadership: JROTC teaches students leadership skills 
     
     
  • Citizenship: JROTC programs teach students about their rights and responsibilities as American citizens 
     
     
  • Physical fitness: JROTC programs include physical fitness training and marching drills 
     
     
  • Academic competitions: JROTC programs include academic competitions, such as the Leadership and Academic Bowl and the National High School Drill Team Championship 
     
     
  • Life skills: JROTC programs teach students life skills that many high schools do not emphasize 
     
     
  • Health and wellness: JROTC programs include health and wellness studies 
     
     
  • Geography: JROTC programs include geography courses 
     
     
  • American history and government: JROTC programs include American history and government courses 
     
     
  • Communications: JROTC programs include communications courses 
     
     
  • Emotional intelligence: JROTC programs include emotional intelligence courses 
     

JROTC programs can help students develop self-discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills that can help them succeed in adulthood. JROTC programs can also help students pay for college through scholarships. 

 
 
JROTC is different from ROTC, which is a program for higher education (college or university).
