In his 34 years in the Air Force General Deptula was a fighter pilot with more than 3,000 flying hours and multiple command assignments in the F-15. He was he attack planner for the air war in Desert Storm and commander of subsequent no-fly operations over Iraq. In his last assignment was the AF Chief of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. He is a board member at a variety of institutions; an independent consultant; and a world-wide commentator on military strategy and related issues.
